Gate of Heaven is located in central Westchester County, near the Tappan Zee Bridge and north of the New York Thruway.
From the south: Take the Cross Westchester Expressway (287W) to Exit 4. Turn right onto Route 100A North (Bradhurst Avenue). Follow Route 100A for 2.5 miles to the cemetery entrance. -or- Take the Saw Mill River Parkway North and take the Eastview exit. Then turn right and proceed to Route 100C. Turn left onto 100C. At the traffic light make a left onto Route 100A North and continue to the cemetery entrance. -or- Take the Bronx River Parkway North to the Taconic Parkway North to Stevens Avenue. Turn left at the traffic light onto Stevens Avenue to the cemetery entrance. -or- Take the Sprain Brook Parkway North to the Eastview Exit. The sign also says "100 & 100C South." Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 100C. Turn left onto Route 100 at the first intersection. Follow Route 100 North to the cemetery entrance.
From the north: Take the Taconic Parkway South to the Bronx River Parkway South. Turn right at the traffic light at Stevens Avenue to the cemetery entrance. -or- Take Route 684 South to the Saw Mill River Parkway South. Take Exit 26 to the Bronx River Parkway. Turn right at the traffic light at Stevens Avenue to the cemetery entrance.
By train: Certain trains on the Metro North Railroad Harlem Division run from grand Central Station to the cemetery on a daily basis. The station stop at the cemetery is Mt. Pleasant. Call Metro North for the current schedule. Also, taxi service is available from nearby Valhalla and Hawthorne stations.
Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located in the wooded hills of the Town of Mount Pleasant in the hamlet of Hawthorne, Westchester County, New York, is 260 acres of which 200 have been developed into 37 sections for ground burial and two major mausoleum complexes.
